Becoming a Part of God's Family

1) The bible tells us that God loves people and created a good world where He and people lived in
     close relationship, but people chose to go their own way (sin) and break fellowship with God.

“For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.”  Romans 3:23

2) The cost for sinning, for rejecting God, was and is great - Death.

"For the wages of sin is death…” Romans 6:23a

3) However, God, because of his great love for us, sent Jesus to die in our place.

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

 

4) By paying our sin price, death, He became the one and only bridge to God, to eternal life.  

“But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23b

5) The decision we need to make is to take those first steps of faith.

To receive him and believe in Him as Savior and Lord.
“Yet to all who received him, to those who believe in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:12 

 

To confess him as Lord,
“If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9b 

To repent and be baptized,
“Peter replied, `Repent and be baptized every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’” Acts 2:38

6) Upon choosing Christ, the Bible tells us that we now KNOW that we have eternal life, a place in
     heaven, and a place in His family.

“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” I John 5:13
